About

"It's not like you haven't been here before. Anyway, this is my mental attic, where I keep my trash and once in a while trek up here. You are welcome, but try not to disturb things around. "

an average mom

my mom wanted to be an architect. even today as we travel in the city, she can't but notice the ugly beauty of the city's architecture. and sometimes she turns her head and her neck and her eyebrows too much just to capture the height of some of the buildings from the car window. she is an architect, alright. Oh, don't worry, she does watch the soaps, and discuss them with my maasi, when they meet. Sometimes even over the phone. But she is different... and you can see that when she is with all the aunties... she is the mom one would choose, if one were given a choice, (but this is not even a sentence, forget statement).
and she teases me... tells me that I am the daughter every mother should have. "Ma, thoda gender mistik there" i tell her. "No, i knew it was girl before you were born, you don't know what "Shahzeb'' means." and then I run.
and she tells me about work ethics... she says that work is God...and honesty towards ones work is the biggest religion."Ma, you think you would have been a successful architect?" I ask her. "Look at the two towers that i designed"...pointing to a picture of me and my bro.
"Too bad, you didn't get to be an architect." i tell her. "Too bad you won't get to be an average mom..." she tells me.

my regular sounding comment would be...

really loved this post..it really made me smile...

    yawn!!
p.s just for the record...this blog is accessed by millions more than the people who leave comments...just that the provision for only bloggers to leave comments impedes upon those visitors' freedom of expression..

Schazeb, lovely thought! I think it wouldn't take anyone more than one smile from your mom to realise what a warm and beautiful person she is. Do convey my regards to her.
And I thought you would mention something about how she knows so much about cricket somewhere in your post. That's also something that sets her apart from any 'average' mom, right? top
