remember november.

november is like my favourite month in the year.
for some reason it reminds me very strongly of my school days... and i love me-in-school... (like another dear one likes herself as a child!)...very clearly i see myself cycling down the narrow short-cuts to school... and the cool winter, and jackets and the style statements!... and then we used to discuss how everyone we know was a wannabe, and the awkward silence that followed it.
and diwali. and the chicks that we'd get to see in the colony.
november, when i had many of my firsts (ask me) and they stay in my attic. november, when we used to sit on the terrace and discuss aliens.... i dont know why but it's like the holiday season, though there aren't really many.... and that's why i never got to celebrate budday at school. and yeah, my birthday... what a day to do some bullshit introspection and all that.... i did it again this year... but really i didn't see 23 coming...but thats another story... i remember talking with my granma, dadi, when is your birthday...november 1919, she said.
and it's in the word "November". trying sayin it... it slips so easily from your tongue to your lips... so sexy, it's like a pick up line. "you wanna novembah!"
i am november, if i cud be a month. i wud wanna be economics, if i were a subject. you know...
school was so much fun. when i came up with an idea to develop a hybrid car and my prof said, 'Next!'...oh it was cool. very Purani Jeans kinda.... but its not just that; its about how it all comes back on a particular day and in my case, a particular month...
it's like touching the past, and it's a luxury only mentally unstable people can afford... and i love to walk to my school church and the graveyard next to it, pay my respects to my uncle.cry. put my hands in my jeans ka pocket and walk back home. only now i dont have to 'be back home before 10.30'...november is like my favourite month...

"it's like touching the past, and it's a luxury only mentally unstable people can afford..."

Yet again, the attic manages to revive a memory lost somewhere within, and word it oh-so-profoundly.

    November on... top

November-c.1200, from O.Fr. novembre, from L. November (also Novembris (mensis)), from novem "nine." The ninth month of the Roman calendar, which began in March.
All that talk about November made me wonder about its origin :-)
Nice post,Schazeb! You should post more often! top
